Dental pain? We’re here to help fast

Same-day relief for toothaches, breaks, swelling and other urgent dental problems.

Don’t wait in pain

Urgent care when you need it most

A dental emergency is stressful — and waiting usually makes it worse. A toothache that’s ignored can turn into an infection; a cracked tooth left alone can break further; a knocked-out tooth has the best chance of being saved in the first hour. Whatever has happened, the right first step is the same: call us right away.

When you call Meadowvale Smiles Dental with an emergency, we’ll ask a few quick questions, tell you exactly what to do in the meantime, and get you into the chair as soon as possible — the same day whenever we can. Our first priority is getting you out of pain; then we’ll explain clearly what’s going on and what your options are, so you can make a calm, informed decision about treatment. No lectures, no judgement — just fast, caring help.

Emergency questions

What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe pain, a knocked-out or broken tooth, uncontrolled bleeding, an abscess, or swelling in your face or gums all warrant urgent care. When in doubt, call us — we’d much rather advise you on a false alarm than have you wait on a real problem.
My tooth got knocked out — what do I do?
Handle it by the crown (not the root), gently rinse it if dirty — don’t scrub — and keep it moist in milk or between your cheek and gum. Then call us immediately: a tooth re-implanted within the first hour has the best chance of being saved.
How soon can I be seen?
We keep room in our schedule for emergencies and aim to see you the same day whenever possible. Call (905) 542-7606 and we’ll fit you in as quickly as we can.
Should I go to the hospital instead?
For most dental problems, a dentist can treat you faster and more completely than an emergency room. But if you have swelling that affects your breathing or swallowing, a high fever, or a serious facial injury, go to the ER first — then see us for the dental follow-up.
Can I take painkillers while I wait?
Over-the-counter pain relief taken as directed can help you stay comfortable until your visit. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum — it burns the tissue. A cold compress on the cheek also helps with swelling.
